Earning platinum and trading safely
You can get platinum without spending real money: trade Prime parts, mods and Arcanes with other players. Here is how trading works, what sells well, what platinum is worth spending on and how to avoid scams.
This tutorial is only available in English and German for now.

01What is it about?
Platinum is Warframe’s premium currency. You can buy it with real money, but you do not have to. Other players pay you platinum for things you farm in the game. That way you get platinum for free and spend it on what really helps you.
The key terms in short:
- Platinum
- The premium currency. In the game you only earn it by trading with other players.
- Trade
- An exchange between two players in a Clan Dojo or in Maroo’s Bazaar. Each side offers up to 6 items plus platinum.
- Trade limit
- How often you can trade per day. The number equals your Mastery Rank.
- Trade tax
- Credits that every trade costs. The amount depends on the item’s rarity.
- Prime set
- All parts of a Prime item together. For Warframes that is 4 blueprints: main blueprint, Neuroptics, Chassis and Systems.
- WTS / WTB
- Trade chat shorthand for “want to sell” and “want to buy”. “100p” means 100 platinum.
- Ducats
- Baro Ki’Teer’s currency. You get them for leftover Prime parts, an alternative to selling.
02What platinum is worth spending on
Almost everything in Warframe can be earned by playing. Some things, though, only come from platinum or are much easier with it. Early on these purchases pay off the most:
| Purchase | Price | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Warframe slot | 20 platinum for 1 slot | You start with 3 slots. Without a free slot you cannot build a new Warframe. |
| Weapon slots | 12 platinum for 2 slots | You start with 11. You build lots of weapons for mastery, so slots run out fast. |
| Orokin Reactor | 20 platinum | Doubles a Warframe’s mod capacity. Also free from Nightwave and as a blueprint from Sorties. |
| Orokin Catalyst | 20 platinum | The same for weapons. |
Forma | 20 platinum | You can also build it yourself, see Modding basics: capacity, Endo, Forma and more. |
03Unlocking trading
- 01
Reach Mastery Rank 2
From rank 2 you can trade. Below that you cannot even see the trade chat. How to raise your Mastery Rank fast shows how to rank up quickly.
- 02
Enable 2FA
On PC and for Cross Platform Save accounts you need two-factor authentication. Turn it on in account management on the official Warframe website.
- 03
Pick a place to trade
Trading only works in two places: at a Trading Post in a Clan Dojo or in Maroo’s Bazaar, a relay on Mars. Select the Bazaar right on Mars in the navigation.
- You get as many trades per day as your Mastery Rank. The limit resets every day at 0:00 UTC.
- Ranking up gives you one extra trade right away, even if you had used up your limit.
- A trade counts once, no matter how many items it holds. Each side can offer up to 6 items plus platinum.
- Rivens can only be traded between players of Mastery Rank 8 or higher. Legendary Arcanes can only be given by players of at least rank 11.
04The trade tax
Every trade costs credits. How much depends on the rarity of the items. Maroo’s Bazaar always adds 10%. In a Dojo the clan sets a surcharge of 0 to 100%.
| Item | Tax |
|---|---|
| Common mods, Lith and Meso relics | 2,000 credits |
| Uncommon mods, Neo and Axi relics | 4,000 credits |
| Rare mods and Rivens | 8,000 credits |
| Legendary mods | 1,000,000 credits |
| Most Prime parts and Prime blueprints | 2,000 credits |
| Arcanes | by rarity and rank, from 2,000 credits |
05What sells well
- Prime parts and Prime sets from Void Relics: farming Prime parts. Full sets usually fetch more than single parts. Parts from the Prime Vault are often in high demand.
- Void Relics, refined ones too. Radiant relics with sought-after rare parts sell well.
- Arcanes, for example
Arcane Energize from the Eidolons. See Eidolon hunts: Teralyst, Gantulyst and Hydrolyst. - Rare mods, such as Primed mods from Baro Ki’Teer. Primed mods from the daily login reward are not tradable, though.
- Riven Mods from Mastery Rank 8. More in Riven Mods: get, unveil and cycle them.
- Ayatan Sculptures are tradable as well. Usually they are worth more to you as Endo from Maroo.
06Finding buyers
- 01
Find the price
Our database shows current market prices for many items. The “Market price” box on an item page shows what players are asking on warframe.market right now. Note: this is not the in-game Market.
- 02
Post an offer
Write in trade chat, for example “WTS [Item] 20p”. Square brackets link the item so others can click it.
- 03
Or use warframe.market
warframe.market is a community website, not run by Digital Extremes. You list buy and sell orders there, and interested players whisper you in game.
- 04
Meet and trade
Invite each other to a Dojo or meet in Maroo’s Bazaar. Check the items in the trade window and both confirm.
- Only slightly undercut the cheapest offers. You sell quickly without giving platinum away.
- A small premium over the sum of the parts is fair for sets, because buyers save time.
- Prices move. When a Prime item comes out of the Vault or Baro brings new items, prices often drop sharply.
- Since Hotfix 44.1.3 in October 2026 there is no Riven disposition any more. Old Riven prices tell you little now.
07Ducats instead of platinum
Not every Prime part finds a buyer. Turn cheap parts in at the Ducat kiosks in a relay for
Orokin Ducats. As a rule: common parts give 15, uncommon 45 and rare 100 Ducats. At Baro Ki’Teer you spend them on Primed mods, which you can sell for platinum again.
08Trading safely
- Before you confirm, check every item: name, part (Chassis is not Systems), rank of mods and Arcanes, and the platinum amount. Count the zeros.
- If a trade is cancelled and restarted, check everything again from the start.
- There is no “platinum glitch” that doubles your platinum. Anyone offering one wants your platinum.
- Only trade items that are in the trade window. Promises, favors or payment outside the game are not protected, and real money breaks the rules.
- Never pay in advance for a service. Only hand over platinum once you see the item in the trade window.
- Watch the clan’s tax surcharge in a Dojo. When in doubt, go to Maroo’s Bazaar, where it is always 10%.
