Tainted Shell is a rare Corrupted mod for shotguns from Update 10.3. Each rank adds 7% accuracy and takes 5% from the fire rate, ending at +77% accuracy and -55% fire rate on rank 10. It does not reduce the damage falloff over distance.
The mod drops from the enemies listed in the table on this page and cannot be transmuted. Because of the heavy fire rate loss and high capacity cost, it is rarely used in optimized builds. Consider it only if spread is your main problem and you can live with slow shooting.
Tainted Shell was added with Update 10.3 (October 2013).
