Serration increases the base damage of primary weapons, excluding shotguns, by 15% per rank, up to +165% at rank 10. It is the foundation of almost every rifle build and a priority for new players.
An unranked copy is given on completing The Teacher quest, and it also drops in Dark Sector Defense and other sources in the table or comes from transmutation. Rank it up early since it improves almost every primary weapon.
Serration was added with Vanilla (October 2012).
