Insulation increases the Cold resistance of a Warframe's health and shields by 60% at max rank. The damage resistance works on both, effectively raising health and shields by +150% against Cold damage.
It drops from enemies rather than from mission tables, and transmutation can produce it. It makes sense against Cold-heavy enemies, such as Corpus units with cryo attacks.
Insulation was added with Update 8.0 (May 2013).
