Hornet Strike increases the base damage of secondary weapons by 20% per rank, up to +220% at rank 10. Base damage bonuses multiply against the weapon's own base damage, which makes it a standard first mod for pistols.
An unranked copy is awarded when you finish The Teacher quest, and more can drop in missions or come from transmutation. It stacks additively with other damage sources like Holster Amp, giving a strong, simple boost.
Hornet Strike was added with Vanilla (October 2012).
