Helminth: unlock it, feed it, swap abilities

01What is it about?
Every Warframe has four fixed abilities. With the Helminth you swap one of them for an ability of another Warframe, so a weak Warframe can gain a heal or a damage buff, for example. The Helminth is an Infested creature living in a sealed room on your Orbiter.
The key terms in short:
- Segment
- A part for your Orbiter that unlocks a new feature. You build it in the Foundry and then install it.
- Foundry
- Where you build new gear from blueprints and resources.
- Standing
- Reputation with a faction, earned through missions and bounties and spent at its vendors.
- Entrati
- The family on Deimos. Son, one of them, sells the Helminth blueprint.
- Secretions
- The Helminth’s currency. You get them by feeding it resources.
- Subsume
- You give the Helminth a Warframe, which is consumed. In return it learns one of its abilities.
02How to unlock the Helminth
- 01
Play “Heart of Deimos”
The quest opens the Necralisk on Deimos, home of the Entrati family.
- 02
Earn Entrati standing
Run bounties in the Cambion Drift and trade tokens with the Entrati until you reach rank 3 “Associate”.
- 03
Buy the blueprint from Son
Son in the Necralisk sells the Helminth Segment blueprint for 15,000 standing. You need Mastery Rank 8.
- 04
Build it in the Foundry
It costs 50,000 credits, 5× Purple Velocipod Tag, 20×
Adramal Alaşımı, 5×
Doymuş Kas Kütlesi and 15×
Ganglion, and takes 24 hours. - 05
Install it
Install the finished segment on your Orbiter. The door to the Helminth room opens.
03Secretions: what the Helminth runs on
Everything at the Helminth costs secretions. There are six kinds: Calx, Biotics, Synthetics, Pheromones, Bile and Oxides. You get them by feeding the Helminth resources, and almost every resource in the game can be fed.
- A green arrow means the Helminth likes that resource right now: up to 30% of a secretion bar.
- A red arrow means it has had enough of it, and the resource gives only a few percent.
- Each bar caps at 100%. Anything above is wasted, so never overfeed.
- Its appetite recovers over time. Feed many different resources instead of a lot of one.
04Subsuming Warframes
When you subsume a Warframe, you sacrifice it for good. In return the Helminth learns one fixed ability of that Warframe, which you can then give to any other Warframe.
- Only regular Warframes, no Prime or Umbra versions.
- It does not need to be rank 30. Level it first anyway, or you miss its mastery points.
- Subsuming takes 23 hours, and only one Warframe at a time.
- Each Warframe can be subsumed once and always gives the same ability. Passives cannot be subsumed.
Popular first picks:
05Infusing abilities
Sit in the chair with the Warframe you want to change and pick a learned ability. It replaces one of the Warframe’s four abilities.
- You can replace one ability per mod configuration. Different configurations may carry different abilities.
- An ability always sits in the same slot in every configuration.
- You can undo it any time, but the secretions you paid are not refunded.
- Roar, Eclipse and Xata’s Whisper can only replace a Warframe’s own damage buff on Warframes that have one, such as Chroma or Octavia.
06Metamorphosis: leveling the Helminth
Feeding, subsuming and infusing give the Helminth experience for its Metamorphosis rank. New ranks raise how many abilities it can hold and unlock its own Helminth abilities, such as Empower for more ability strength.
07Invigorations, Archon Shards and more
- Invigorations: Every week the Helminth offers three random Warframes a seven-day offense and utility bonus. You need the Invigoration segment: its blueprint costs 30,000 standing at Son and needs Entrati rank 5 and Mastery Rank 8.
- Archon Shards: With the Archon Shard segment from the quest “Veilbreaker” you socket permanent bonuses into your Warframes. Everything about them is in the Archon Shards: unlock, farm and socket them tutorial.
Frequently asked questions
Can I remove an infused ability again?
Yes, at any time. The secretions you paid for the infusion are not refunded.
Can I subsume Prime Warframes?
No, only regular Warframes. Prime and Umbra Warframes can still receive Helminth abilities.
What happens when I subsume a Warframe?
It leaves your Arsenal and frees a Warframe slot. After 23 hours its ability is available for all your other Warframes.
Which Warframe should I subsume first?
One you have twice or no longer play that gives one of the popular abilities above. Rhino for Roar is a good start because he is easy to get early.
